"What gets recognized, gets repeated."
We
strongly believe that what gets recognized, gets
repeated. Whether it's "good attention" or "bad
attention", children seek to be recognized.
At our academy, we believe in positive
recognition for positive behaviour through
positive experiences (instead of punishment for
bad behaviour).
As such, you can

Testimonials from Happy
Parents
Jacob has benefited greatly from
this program; improvements to his self- esteem,
his physical health and strength, and his ability to
focus are just a few of the benefits we have
noticed since he entered the program! The skills
learned have also empowered and educated him
on not only on physical defensive skills, but the
knowledge that communication is the first and
best avenue from the Bully Busters program! -
Kelly and Tristan T.
Clearly the
Belt Excellence
Martial Arts Academy
has had a significant influence
on Paul's behavioral and physical development.
The life skills taught and the rewards he receives
at the academy have reaffirmed my decision to have
him join. Highly recommended! - Steve M.
I've noticed greater flexibility, and more
confidence in his physical abilities. I can
also see how much stronger he has become. His
physical education teacher made special mention
his sense of fair play and cooperation with his
classmates. I know that Taekwon-Do plays a
large part in this.
- Kurt and Michelle P.
I really feel
you have a first class organization and you
and your wife are doing an amazing job with those
young kids. Any parent would be lucky to have
their child in your classes. - Mike and
Rozalie G.
I
enrolled Supreena in the Little Dragons program to
help her gain self-confidence.
Today, I can see a
change in her personality. The inspiration she
gets from the training has immensely motivated her
to accept new challenges in every aspect. I
can see her being stronger from inside than
before. Thanks. -
Amarpreet A.
Last month, Cedric
had to make a small presentation at school. When
practicing at home, he knew his material, but was
fidgeting and would be easily distracted. We told
him to take an attention stance to help him
concentrate. What a difference Focus
makes! -
Chantal M. and Mario D.
We are very impressed with your whole program and
are very lucky to have found it. Aidan very
much enjoys it and that is what matters to us the
most. I love seeing the smile on her face
when she is in class.
I want to personally thank you, your wife and your
team for the great job that they do. I'm not sure if
you get enough Thank You's and if you don't then
that is a shame because it's a first class
operation, run by a first class team and I want
to thank you for that!! - Mike G.
My son's focus
and physical coordination has improved
significantly since he began training last
September. We are happy to see Zachary so
excited to join his 'friends' (both students
and instructors) every Monday and Wednesday. -
Maddalena and Christopher B.
I am thrilled
with the results I have seen in my daughter since
starting the program. Having Taekwon-Do as a
third place where proper behaviour, etiquette
and respect is expected, has made huge
improvements. I just got a note from her teacher
stating she has seen big improvements in
the last few months. Abby is no longer competing
with others, playing nicely and sharing, listening
to different ideas (not just her own) and cleaning
up after herself. I am so happy :) - Pam H.
The greatest benefit of the program
so far has been the amount of fun Ethan is
having at the classes. He continues to enjoy his
Taekwon-Do training. There is no effort to get him
to go to class. I think this speaks highly of
the classes and the positive atmosphere created by
the instructors. - Kenneth Y.
Cedric no longer
complains and diligently brushes his teeth before
bedtime. One night, he even told his
reluctant brother, "Obey cheerfully!" -
Chantal M., Mario D.
"My husband and I would like to
tell you how impressed we are with your academy.
All of the instructors have great attitudes,
are very helpful and are exceptional role models
for the children, and Jai is very comfortable
with all of them. He looks forward to coming to
each class and has learned a lot of fantastic
things. We are particularly impressed with the
Bully Busters program and the courtesy lessons
that you teach. Thank you very much." - Shikha
and Anshu P.
When hearing
the words, "self-defence", I think of protecting
oneself against others, (such as 'bad guys' and
"bullies"). Over the past few weeks, Emily has
proven that the self-defence skills she has
learned at Black Belt Excellence have a much
broader scope.
Last month,
Emily mastered riding a two-wheeler. As is true with
everyone learning to ride a bicycle, Emily fell.
After one tumble, she came over to me and said,
"Guess why I didn't hurt myself! I learned how to
'break-fall' at Taekwon-Do!"
On the weekend,
we brought the children to the park. I was pitching
a baseball to Emily's older brother and Emily was
ready to retrieve it. When Tommy made a great, hard
hit, I was impressed, until I saw it coming fast and
hard, directly at Emily's head. Her reaction time
was amazing, she dropped to the ground and the ball
sailed over her. She laughed and said, "Hey, that
was just like at Taekwon-Do!". (Referring to
when the instructors swing the bats over the
children's heads and they must duck)
So, self-defence
against sports seems strange, but if it saves
me a couple of trips to CHEO, I applaud it!! -
Patti C.
This is Kevin's
second year at Black Belt Excellence. We
still remember the days when he was reluctant to
enter the class and participate in any class
activities. Over time, with the help of
his instructors (whom we can't thank enough), he
has gained and developed a lot more confidence.
He is no longer hesitant and totally enjoys coming
to the academy. - Annie R. and Prakash K.
Maxwell has improved his self-confidence and is in
better health due to the physical activities at
Taekwon-Do. Actually, there is no
difficulty getting our son to bed after a Taekwon-Do
night! - Margarita C.
Our son has
shown an improvement in physical strength and in
his self-esteem, which we feel helped him succeed in
his swimming. - Stephen and Cindy L.
Taekwon-Do is very important to my son's
self-confidence and skill development. He
understands what is expected and feels comfortable
that he can try his best and be recognized for it.
This positive reinforcement is critical for his
personal and academic success. The
instructors have provided an extremely positive
environment where lots of learning about life skills
as well as martial arts can occur.
Additionally, there is a true sense of "family"
at the academy, which is administered in a
strict and fair fashion under the effective
leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen. - Rubina H.
Our son has
grown more mature in terms of Co-Operation.
Noticeable things like turning off the TV,
getting ready for class, and working on homework go
smoothly with very or to no struggle. - Chau V.
and Mona N.
Taekwon-Do has provided a positive experience for
Nico in terms of fitness (especially during the
winter months) and friendships. - Manuel and
Karen C.
Since Baylen
started in Little Dragons 7 months ago, he's
progressed tremendously in his physical skills.
When he started, he was unable to kick with both
legs, never trying to kick with his left leg at
all, and only slight kicks with his right leg.
We see recently that he's kicking very high with
both feet, as well as trying other physical
activities (like riding his bicycle) that he wasn't
confident enough to try before. We're very
impressed with the speed with which he is
progressing physically. - Michelle and Kurt P.
I
believe that Taekwon-Do is in perfect harmony
with our hopes and desires for our son's formation.
He is enjoying the Little Dragons program and
already its lessons are spilling over into his
everyday life. I am confident that the Little
Dragon program will continue to have a positive
influence in his life. - Ester D. & R.
Gariepy
Our goal with
Taekwon-Do for our son is two-fold:
-
to add to the
stream of role modeling, positive values, positive
feedback and corrective feedback that come from
family and school
-
for physical benefits of health and co-ordination,
and the benefit of experiencing a different
environment and different set of people.
These goals are
being met at Black Belt Excellence on an ongoing
basis, and hence we are delighted to be part of the
Black Belt Excellence community. - D. Goodwill
Emily has been
taking Taekwon-Do for six months. This month I
have noticed a tremendous change in her
character. She has always found it difficult
to control her temper. She would get easily
frustrated and abandon activities in which she did
not achieve immediate success. Lately, there has
been a sense of peacefulness about her that I
never saw before. She is much more in
control of her emotions. She rarely has
temper tantrums anymore and has learned
techniques to calm herself down. Thank you!
- Patti and Jamie C.
Josh is growing into a very fit,
energetic and confident young boy. He is a caring,
sharing and loving child that makes his family very
proud of him at every opportunity. As his parents,
we have witnessed a remarkable improvement and
development since he started his training and we are
very thankful for your efforts. - Allan and
Wendy H.
Our daughter has
undergone quite a positive change since she started
to attend your academy From a child who would
not sit down and do any activities with
concentration, Jusrina is now a much more
focused child. She always did have good
imagination. Now imagination with improved
concentration frequently results in some very
creatively done crafts. I credit the
comprehensive instruction style of your school for
this remarkable change in my daughter. For this,
I sincerely thank you. - Satvinder Singh B.
Since last month,
we have noticed tremendous changes in our son
Kevin's behaviour; he is always answering our
requests properly and for any help we provide to
him, he always shows his appreciation. Considering
he just started training last November, we are
really impressed and thank you all for your efforts.
- Li G. and Yuan X.
Christopher continues to improve
on all areas relating to life skills. He is now
understands the principles of courtesy, respect,
responsibility and self-control and will use his
skills appropriately. He is very cooperative and
his social skills are improving at home and at
school. The school reports excellent cooperation
with his peers. Chris continues to enjoy your class
and is definitely benefiting from the positive
environment. - Josee L.
When starting the
Little Dragons program, Karl set himself an
objective to work hard to graduate to Junior
Achievers so that he could train with his dad.
Even with friends joining the program, Karl kept
focus on his goal. Taekwon-Do has showed
him that hard work will be rewarded and that goals
are achievable when you set your mind to it." -
Chantal M.
Annuj perceives
Mr. Nguyen as a positive influence in his life.
He thoroughly enjoys going to the classes.
We make reference to the 8 Life Skills to influence
good behaviour. Sometimes we ask Annuj,
"Would Mr. Nguyen like this unacceptable behaviour?
(based on a particular life skill). And we
have seen him changing to positive behaviour
immediately. - Ramani K. and Kamal K.
